What is a Chinese AI video generator?

A Chinese AI video generator is a video model built by a company based in China, usually released first in Chinese apps and later in English. As of October 2026 the names you meet most often are Seedance from ByteDance, Kling from Kuaishou, Hailuo from MiniMax, Wan from Alibaba and Vidu from Shengshu Technology. Most turn a prompt or a reference image into a short clip, and several add native audio. This guide lists only verifiable facts, gives no quality ranking and is not sponsored. SpicyFrame is not affiliated with any company named here; it uses Seedance 2.5 through a provider.

The main Chinese AI video models at a glance

Seedance is ByteDance’s family, the company behind TikTok and CapCut. Seedance 2.0 was released on 12 February 2026 and generated clips of up to 15 seconds. ByteDance previewed Seedance 2.5 on 23 June 2026 and, according to a Dreamina press release, launched it worldwide on 31 July 2026 with continuous clips of up to 30 seconds. Kling is Kuaishou’s model. It launched in beta on 10 June 2024, and Kling 3.0 followed in February 2026. Hailuo is MiniMax’s video line: video-01 appeared in September 2024, Hailuo 02 on 18 June 2025, and MiniMax later listed Hailuo 2.3 as a current product. Wan is Alibaba’s family, and Wan 2.2 was released on 28 July 2025 as open source under the Apache 2.0 licence. Vidu comes from Shengshu Technology and Tsinghua University, was unveiled in April 2024 and, on 7 October 2026, received a Vidu Q4 Preview.

Seedance by ByteDance: what is confirmed

Seedance is a closed model: you use it through ByteDance’s own platforms or through partners, not by downloading weights. In China it runs in apps such as Jimeng and Doubao. Outside China, ByteDance offers it through Dreamina and CapCut, and Wikipedia notes that Seedance 2.0 reached CapCut markets from 26 March 2026 with the United States excluded at first. The 2.0 release also drew legal complaints from film studios over copyrighted characters, after which ByteDance said it would strengthen safeguards. Availability, plans and output options vary by market, so check the official page for your country before you pay for anything.

Kling, Hailuo, Wan and Vidu: a neutral snapshot

Kling is reached through kling.ai internationally and klingai.com in China. Wikipedia warns that fake Kling sites and ads have spread malware, so type the address yourself. Hailuo is available through MiniMax’s web platform, app and API, and MiniMax listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in January 2026. Wan is the open-weight option: the Wan 2.2 models were published with a mixture-of-experts design and a 5-billion-parameter variant that runs 720p on a high-end consumer graphics card, though it needs a technical setup. Newer Wan versions exist, so read the official model card for the current licence. Vidu is available at platform.vidu.com, where Shengshu lists per-second prices that start at $0.045 for 540p video. Several sites copy these names; vidu.io, for example, says it is not Shengshu’s product.

Why the same model has several names

The model, the app and the reseller are three different things. Seedance is the model, Jimeng and Dreamina are ByteDance apps, and many third-party websites resell access. Version numbers also move quickly, and aggregator blogs often disagree on dates and specifications, so the date in a headline is not always the date of a public release. When a page claims a model is available, check three things: who operates the site, what the terms say about your uploads, and what the price per second is before you create an account.

How to access a Chinese AI video generator from abroad

There are four legitimate routes. First, the international app of the developer, such as Dreamina for Seedance, kling.ai for Kling, the Hailuo site from MiniMax, and platform.vidu.com for Vidu. Second, a studio or aggregator that licenses the model and serves it worldwide. Third, a developer API such as BytePlus ModelArk for Seedance, which suits teams with engineers. Fourth, open weights for Wan, if you have a capable graphics card and time to set it up. Chinese-market apps often require a mainland phone number or a Douyin account, which is the main practical barrier abroad. Avoid shared accounts and cracked apps, and never pay on a site that hides its price or its terms.

An easy way to use Seedance 2.5: SpicyFrame

If you want Seedance 2.5 without managing accounts, regions or APIs, SpicyFrame is an 18+ image-to-video studio built on it. You upload 1 to 12 JPG, PNG or WEBP references of up to 10 MB each, or start from a prompt alone, then choose 5, 10 or 30 seconds. The result is a vertical 9:16 MP4 with native ambient audio. Medium 480p costs $3.99, $4.99 or $11.99 for 5, 10 or 30 seconds, and High 720p costs $4.99, $8.99 or $24.99. Ultra High 1080p costs $11.99, $23.99 or $70.99. You can pay for one video as a guest with no subscription, and the guest link stays available for 24 hours. SpicyFrame specialises in NSFW-style content: glamour, lingerie, bikini, boudoir, dance and kisses between consenting adults. It never produces explicit content, and the provider’s safety checks apply to every request. Seedance 2.5 ranked 2nd on the LMArena image-to-video leaderboard at the time of writing.

Copy-ready Seedance 2.5 prompts to try

Name each reference and give the camera one job. 1. “@Image 1 in a silk robe walks from the window to an armchair, sits and looks at the camera, slow tracking shot, morning light, soft room tone.” 2. “@Image 1 in a bikini walks along the pool edge, pushes back wet hair and smiles over the shoulder, golden hour, slow side track.” 3. “@Image 1 dances slowly under a spotlight, haze in the air, slow orbit, low bass.” 4. “@Image 1 and @Image 2, two consenting adults, share a slow kiss on a balcony at dusk, soft push-in, city ambience.” Test a 5-second Medium clip first, then extend. For more patterns see the Seedance 2.5 prompt guide.

What to check before you choose a tool

Compare practical points rather than slogans: maximum clip length, reference-image support, audio, price per second, whether your region is supported, and what the operator does with your uploads. Results change with every release and depend on the test, so run the same small test on each tool you consider. Be careful with any page that promises no rules at all. Every lawful service follows the law, consent rules, provider checks and payment rules. Only upload images you own or may use, showing adults who agreed to the transformation, and never make videos of celebrities, of anyone who looks underage, or that undress real people.
