SPICYFRAME · PRACTICAL GUIDES
Turn a portrait photo into an AI video
Animate a portrait with subtle movement, steady framing and natural ambience. A practical guide to reference quality and motion prompts.
Pick a portrait with room to move
Choose a sharp portrait with a clearly visible face and enough space around the head and shoulders. A tight crop leaves less room for movement, while blur and heavy filters can make small features harder to interpret. Use an AI-created portrait or a photo you have permission to animate. Increasing the output resolution does not recover information missing from the source.
Start with a small action
For a first attempt, request one subtle change: a head turn, natural blinking or a gentle shift of posture. Avoid combining several expressions, fast rotation and a large camera move in the same short clip. The objective is to evaluate how the reference behaves in motion before making the scene more complicated.
A five-second portrait prompt
“@Image 1, a gentle head turn toward the window followed by a natural blink. Keep the hairstyle, outfit and background consistent. Eye-level medium close-up, steady camera, soft window light, quiet original room ambience.” Select 5 seconds in the duration control; putting a duration only in the prompt does not replace the selected option.
Choose the output for your next step
Medium requests 480p and is the lower-cost choice for experimenting. High requests 720p and provides more output pixels. Neither setting guarantees perfect facial consistency or motion. Compare the completed clip at its actual size, including the first and last moments, rather than judging only the preview thumbnail.
