Grok spicy mode is one of the generation styles in Grok Imagine, the image and video generator that xAI added to its Grok assistant. At launch in early August 2025, press coverage described four video styles, Custom, Normal, Fun and Spicy, with Spicy allowing more suggestive output than the others while the most explicit results were blurred or moderated. Access was initially limited to paying subscribers (SuperGrok and X Premium+). Since then, xAI has changed who can generate what several times, so treat any description, including this one, as a snapshot and check xAI’s current terms before relying on it. SpicyFrame is not affiliated with xAI or Grok. If you would rather animate your own photos outside Grok, SpicyFrame’s NSFW AI video generator is a separate option, covered further down.
In January 2026, after widespread criticism of sexualized edits of real people made without consent, xAI restricted image generation and editing on X to paying subscribers, according to reporting by Reuters and Fortune. A few days later, X said it had added technical measures to stop Grok from editing images of real people into revealing clothing, and that it would geoblock such content where it is illegal, as reported by the Associated Press. Regulators in several countries opened inquiries at the same time. Independent reports since then describe tighter moderation and features that vary by country, platform and subscription, but xAI has not published one clear, stable rulebook for Spicy, so details may change at any time.
There is no reliable public announcement that xAI removed Spicy entirely, and none confirming it is unchanged either. What users describe as “Grok spicy mode gone” is usually one of three things: the option is not offered on their platform or in their country, their account does not have the required paid plan or age verification, or prompts that used to work are now refused by stricter moderation. If the option has disappeared for you, the only authoritative answer comes from xAI’s own help pages and in-app notices. Avoid third-party sites that promise to “unlock” or “restore” it: they are a common source of scams and account theft. If a clip is blocked rather than missing, see what a Grok “video moderated” notice means.
As of October 2026, xAI (now SpaceXAI, the name on its x.ai pages since SpaceX acquired xAI in February 2026) publishes no official step-by-step guide to turning on Grok spicy mode, and the help and legal pages we checked do not name a “Spicy” switch, so treat any tutorial with exact menu paths as unofficial. What SpaceXAI and X do document are the settings that decide whether adult content can reach your account at all. 1. Age: the X Help Center says X must verify or estimate users’ ages under laws such as the UK Online Safety Act and the EU Digital Services Act, from signals it already has, a live selfie or a government ID, and that until it can confirm you are 18 or over you may not be able to access sensitive media. 2. The 18+ setting in Grok: SpaceXAI’s consumer terms, updated on 11 September 2026, describe in their section for Australian users both age assurance and a setting under Settings > Data Control that limits exposure to media that may contain 18+ adult content; check that this limit is off. 3. On X: “Display media that may contain sensitive content” sits under Privacy and safety, in Content you see on x.com and under Safety in the Android app. 4. Plan and place: at launch, Spicy was reported for paying SuperGrok and X Premium+ subscribers, and it still varies by country, platform and app version. If the option is missing after these checks, it is not offered to your account. Do not try to get around an age check, a regional block or moderation: SpaceXAI’s Acceptable Use Policy (effective 14 August 2026) forbids circumventing its safeguards and bans putting a real person’s likeness in an intimate or sexual context, so celebrities and anyone who has not consented stay off-limits whatever the setting.
Where it is offered, people generally use Spicy by opening Grok Imagine in the Grok app with an eligible paid subscription, confirming they are an adult, creating or uploading an image and choosing the Spicy style before generating a video. Menus, eligibility and the exact steps are controlled by xAI and have moved between versions, so follow the instructions the app shows you rather than a tutorial from last season. Whatever the tool, the same rules apply: only adults, only images you are entitled to use, and never a real, identifiable person who did not agree. Device checks are covered in Grok spicy on iPhone and Android, clip length and quotas in Grok video limits, and starting from your own picture in Grok spicy mode for uploaded images. For the photo-to-clip workflow itself, see Grok image to video.
In launch coverage, Normal produced conventional, safe-for-work motion, while Spicy allowed more suggestive styling, poses and mood, with the most explicit results blurred or moderated. Both modes start from the same image; the difference lies in how far the model is allowed to push the content. Reports since January 2026 suggest the gap has narrowed in many regions as moderation tightened. Because xAI can change these settings at any time, compare the modes yourself on a harmless test image rather than relying on screenshots or examples found online.
The prompts that tend to survive moderation on any tool describe styling, light and attitude instead of anatomy. Ideas you can adapt: a slow turn toward the camera under red and violet neon; a satin dress by a hotel window at night with city lights behind; sunglasses lifted with a smile by the pool; a confident walk down a velvet-lit corridor; a silk robe by a tall window in soft morning light; a playful look back over the shoulder in slow motion. Words such as sultry, glamorous, playful and confident carry the mood. Prompts that ask for nudity, explicit acts, real public figures or anyone who looks underage should not be written at all. To assemble one from menus instead of writing it yourself, use the free Grok spicy prompt generator, which keeps the wording non-explicit.
The Grok spicy mode examples shared online mostly fall into a few families: fashion and glamour portraits brought to life with a slow turn, swimwear and beach scenes, nightlife and neon moods, anime-style or fantasy characters, and playful dance clips. Many shared examples also involve real public figures, which is exactly the kind of use that led to the 2026 restrictions; do not copy those. If you want to test similar ideas elsewhere, start from your own photo or a fictional adult character and keep the scene suggestive rather than explicit. Copy-ready wording, kept non-explicit, is collected in the Grok spicy prompt examples guide.
SpicyFrame fits when you want to start from your own photos and pay per clip. You upload one to 12 reference images, refer to them as @Image 1, @Image 2 and so on, choose 5, 10 or 30 seconds and Medium 480p, High 720p or Ultra High 1080p, and receive a vertical 9:16 MP4 with native ambient audio, rendered with Seedance 2.5 (2nd on LMArena image-to-video at the time of writing). Content can be glamorous, lingerie-style or NSFW-style but never explicit, and the provider’s content checks also apply. It is a different product with different rules, not a copy of Grok’s Spicy mode, and this guide makes no claim about which produces better results.
Each price is shown before you pay, with no subscription required. Medium 480p costs $3.99, $4.99 or $11.99 for 5, 10 or 30 seconds; High 720p costs $4.99, $8.99 or $24.99. Ultra High 1080p costs $11.99, $23.99 or $70.99. You can buy a single video as a guest or use piments at 100 per dollar. Optional weekly plans give 25% more piments for the money: Starter at $9.99 for 1,249 piments, Creator at $19.99 for 2,499 and Studio at $39.99 for 4,999. Confirmed failed renders restore piments or refund a single-video payment.
The 2026 controversy around Grok came from images of real people made without their agreement, and that harm does not depend on the tool. Only animate yourself, a consenting adult or a fictional adult character. Ownership of a photo does not establish consent, and a public profile picture is not permission. Many countries treat non-consensual intimate imagery as a crime. On SpicyFrame you confirm a rights declaration before each generation, recorded with its version and timestamp; it is your declaration, so the responsibility stays with you. Before uploading anyone’s photo, also check whether Grok spicy videos are private.

A generation style in Grok Imagine, xAI’s image and video tool, that allows more suggestive output than the Normal style. Its access and limits are set by xAI and have changed over time.
There is no clear public announcement that it was removed, but access and moderation have tightened since January 2026 and vary by region and plan. Check xAI’s current help pages.
Usually because of your country, platform, subscription or age verification, or because stricter moderation now refuses prompts that used to work.
xAI, now SpaceXAI, publishes no official step-by-step guide as of October 2026. Make sure your age is confirmed as 18+, that the 18+ content limit in Grok’s Settings > Data Control is off and, on X, that sensitive media is allowed; Spicy can then appear only where your plan, country and app offer it.
Usually because your age is not yet confirmed as 18+, an 18+ content limit is on, or your plan, country, platform or app version does not include it. If it is still missing after those checks, it is not available to your account; avoid sites that promise to unlock it.
Where offered, open Grok Imagine with an eligible paid plan, confirm your age, create or upload an image and choose the Spicy style. Follow the current in-app steps, which xAI can change.
Normal keeps motion safe for work; Spicy allows more suggestive styling, with explicit results moderated. The gap depends on xAI’s current settings.
